FRIDAY NIGHT FUN

We did not have any plans last night so Dylan decided to make a roller coaster out of wood, nails and a tupperware bowl. He named it "THUNDER". I think he is obsessed with roller coasters and he still says that he wants to be an engineer so he can build roller coasters. He also made a chicken exit for people like me who are afraid to ride them.

Later in the evening, we watched a movie and then Michael and Dylan rocked out to AC/DC while Cass and I laughed!

There is a "first" for everything!!

We had many "firsts" this weekend. Friday night after we ate dinner at The Salty Iguana we went to our first Shawnee Mission Northwest High School football game. They did not win but it was still fun. Saturday morning Cass worked on her first big project in middle school. It was a leaf project and we had leaves EVERYWHERE. My poor kitchen!!!!!

Then my sister was passing through and we spent 1 1/2 hours together before Michael took her to the airport. We did not do anything exciting because there were leaves EVERYWHERE.

Saturday evening Dylan had his first football game ever!! It did not go so well because they lost 6-42 but he said that he had a lot of fun. Here is Michael giving him a pep talk before the game.

They needed exta help with the chains so Michael volunteered for the job but he was instructed to keep his mouth shut. Oh boy was that hard for him!!!

My little number 27!

Dylan, are you focused on the game or the cheerleaders?????

Today we took the kids to their first car show. Dylan was impressed that he was actually taller than a car. Our friend Pete had his car in the show and he was nice enough to pose for a picture.

Tonight I made Southwest Beef Pie and homemade salsa. Now I want to sit in my comfy chair and rest. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Whoops!!!!

My sister called and said I made a mistake on my blog. The children do NOT get coffee at Starbucks and I put that they do. Whoops! I tried a new recipe tonight and it was an easy not-so-healthy meal but perfect for this cool rainy evening. It was called Macaroni Taco Bake and click here if you would like the recipe. I did not put olives on it. YUCK!!!

Labor Day Weekend

My sister and her family and my parents came to visit this weekend. We always start our weekend off by going to Starbucks. ( The kids do get coffee) My sister spent most of Saturday morning at two urgent cares because Mikayla was not feeling well. She had pneumonia in her right lung. We did a little shopping, went to a new place to eat called Five Guys and went to a movie. Mom and I saw "Julie and Julia" and we both really liked it. Sunday night Michael made ribs, pork butt and then we had lots of different dips, baked beans and an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Here are some of my favorite pictures.

Today Michael drove us to Independence, MO. and we went to Santa Calagon Days. I bought a new picture for the kitchen.

This evening Michael grilled steaks with a marinade, mushrooms, steak fries and I made Chocolate stuffed peanut butter brownies.

SURPRISE

If you have read my previous blogs, you know that I was going to get a new kitchen floor. Well, I got a new kitchen floor, painted the cabinets and walls, new sink/faucet, a new bar, new light fixture over the bar, new counter top, new back splash.... I guess you can say that I got a whole new kitchen and I love it. I only told my parents and sister that I was getting a new floor so Friday night when they walked in their mouths dropped open and I even heard some not so appropriate words come out of them. I think they were in shock and could not believe we took on this huge project. It took 3 weeks to complete. We would go to work all day and then come home and work all night on the kitchen. We actually finished the kitchen at 8:24pm Friday night and they got here at 9:00pm. We were cutting it a little close. I was lucky enough to have my friends Katie, Keri and Jennifer help me paint. They were a huge help and I want to thank them for keeping me sane through this stressful project. Here are some before and after pictures.
