Thanksgiving in Taos, New Mexico

This year we met my parents and our friends Sheila and Pete in Taos, New Mexico for Thanksgiving. We were very lucky that we all made it there safely because New Mexico had winter storm warnings before we got to Taos.  The roads were HORRIBLE for all of us.

New Mexico state line (Cass and Dylan's first time in New Mexico)

Darn tumbleweeds attacked us for miles and miles

Our beautiful house in the mountains.  It looked small when we pulled up but it was like an adobe castle inside.

Michael grilled for us twice!

We really enjoyed the hot tub at night because the stars were amazing to look at.

Cooking dinner

Michael grilling hamburgers!

We made turkey ornaments and hung them all over the house.

Every morning this is what our coffee selection was.  It was actually kind of fun:)

Enjoying a good cup of coffee in the mountains.

Shopping at Taos Plaza

Shopping with Sheila is always an experience.  She actually bought a sink.  Not kidding!!

Sheila and I at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.

Breathtaking!!!

Cass and Dylan were even amazed!

Having fun at the bridge!

Taos Cow ice cream was a delicious afternoon snack!

We only went out to dinner once and it was to Orlando's. It was voted best New Mexican cuisine and it was absolutely delicious!  Sheila and I also enjoyed the sangria.

Then we came home and put on our comfy clothes, sat by the fire and enjoyed homemade hot buttered rum.

We played lots of card games and Dylan always seemed to beat Grandpa.

Dad and I at the Pueblo in front of the church.

The Pueblo was very interesting and we learned a lot on our tour.  Some of the buildings are over 1000 years old.

This is the only water source on the pueblo and it was crystal clear.

The oven they cook in and let me tell you that the bread was scrumptious!

Then we left the pueblo and stopped by the San Francisco De Asis Church (built in the 1700's).

Super Busy Sunday

Today Dylan had two basketball games which he was allowed to play in both with his splint on. You are actually not suppose to play with anything that has metal in it or on it but no one noticed:) It was probably because he had a black sock wrapped around it.

Then I hosted my first Thirty-one party for my friend Stacey and this was her first party being a consultant.

We had a GREAT party.  I LOVE getting free stuff!

We dropped Cass off at the Sprint Center for the Selena Gomez concert and now off to the airport to pick up Aunt Ann.  I feel like I didn't have a weekend.  BOOOO!!

Father/Daughter Dance

Cass and Michael are at the Father/Daughter Dance at the high school right now. They could choose to dress like the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's.  Which decade do you think they chose??

Cass has very thin hair but I tried to get it to stand up!!

What a mullet!!

Hope they are having fun because I know the 80's were a great time for me:)

Beautiful Fall Weekend

Yesterday, I met Mitchell and Nick at MDL Wine and Spirits for a holiday taste testing event. It was so much fun that we had to walk to Taco Via afterwards because we did not eat lunch before all of the samples!

Then Dylan got to go to Academy Sports for the first time and shop with his gift card from Auntie "M" and Uncle Frankie. He was so excited to get his new basketball he has been wanting and two pair of NIKE Elite socks.

Since it has been so nice this weekend, the Christmas lights have been going up.  At one point I couldn't even park in the driveway.

Mason got a haircut!

Cass wanted some pictures with Mason.

I love these cuties!!

Happy Fall!!

New fall recipes: Chocolate chip cake with chocolate chip cookie dough frosting(yum), cinnamon roll cake with cream cheese frosting, blueberry pancake muffins, Granny's homemade biscuits, crazy good casserole, pumpkin chocolate chip bundt cake with chocolate ganache, pumpkin muffins with maple glaze, and caramel macchiato cookies. Tonight I made green chile pepper jack chicken enchiladas and sweet salty cinnamony pretzel snack mix.

Super Fun Saturday

This morning Cass and I met Mitchell and Nick at the Overland Park Convention Center for the Hen House Culinary Celebration. Holy Cow, samples of food or drinks at every booth.  We are definitely going back next year.

Cute tree!

Cass wanted to take home some froot loops.

Tonight was date night with Betty and Tony and we went to Pizza 51.  They had really good pizza and they also had a cool piece of art outside.  It was a guitar made out up hubcaps and license plates.

I ordered a hamburger and mushroom slice.

After dinner we went to Charlie Hoopers to play shuffleboard but they had removed the shuffleboard table.  We decided to go ahead and stay for a couple of drinks and then call it a night.

I love fun Saturdays!!

Happy 13th Birthday Dylan

How did I get old enough to have two teenagers in the house??? This morning I took Dylan out for breakfast and he chose Krispy Kreme donuts.  YUMMY!!

Dylan got his new phone he has been wanting for months and months!! He also was happy to get a new football, tee, itunes card, a case of Fitz's root beer and cash.

Of course he wanted a cookie cake!

After eating pizza I took Dylan, Peyton and Calvin to play Advanced Laser Tag.  I wasn't suppose to be in the room so I snuck in and took a picture but it is blurry.

Three games of laser tag

Then it was time to go home and have cookie cake.

Happy Birthday Dylan!!  Someone please wish Michael and I good luck during these teenage years!!
