Fun Weekend

We started our weekend off by going to Howl at the Moon. Michael's friend won a party for 100 people and invited us to go. We stopped and picked up our friend Katie and then went to the dueling piano bar. It was a lot of fun and we want to go back again. Aunt Ann picked up the kids and took them swimming so they had a fun evening also. Saturday morning Michael took Dylan to sign him up for football. Dylan has never played but has been asking us to sign him up so we gave in. He is so excited and I think daddy is a little excited also. I caught him later that afternoon with a football game on and teaching Dylan some plays. Later that afternoon my friend Keri took Cass for lunch and shopping at the mall. Cass came home with a new "Twilight" shirt and she was so happy about it. While Cass was shopping Michael and I took Dylan to go see "Transformers 2". It was about an hour too long for Michael and I but Dylan loved it.

This morning Michael went and got me a delicious Starbucks coffee and I made homemade donuts. I think it has been at least 10 years since I made them and the kids loved them. They said they tasted like funnel cakes.

Tonight we sat on the deck while Michael grilled Jalapeno Cream Cheese Stuffed Hamburgers. They were sooooo yummy. Last week, my mom mailed me my "Mema's Sour Cream Coffee Cake" recipe so I decided to make it and I am taking it to work tomorrow. It was always delicious when she made it so I hope it tastes the same.

Lego Display

Yesterday, I took the kids to Crown Center to go see the Lego display. It is so cool to see what people can do with legos. The kids also wanted to walk and play in the fountains but of course they were cleaning them that day so they could not play in them.

Game Day

My week off is already flying by. Today I decided to take the kids to a movie since it was so hot outside but when we got to the theater they said the projector was broken. We came home and played a game and ate ice cream.

Can you tell that Dylan had blue raspberry ice cream?

Popcorn Bars

Today was a very busy day even though it was suppose to be my day off. I had lots of errands, laundry and another home improvement project to work on. I did have time to take a break and make M&M popcorn bars with the kids. Dylan was in charge of melting the marshmallows and Cass had to get the popcorn ready. They were yummy and messy.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my husband, dad, and father-in-law. I am very lucky to have all three in my life. We took Michael and his dad to the Kansas City T-Bones game today and it was 95 degrees and our seats were in the sun. We had fun but we actually left early because is was so hot.

Trying to cool off with snow cones.

New Hair Style

Dylan loves his new haircut. Michael took Dylan down to the basement for a haircut and Dylan came upstairs with a stripe on each side of his head. Now he thinks he is cool.

Royals Game

Last night we went to the Royals Game for our friend Chris's birthday. We did a little tailgating before the game with grilled hamburgers, chips and brownies. The game had already started when we decided to finally go find our seats. We were all going up the escalator and some lady (a Royals employee) asked if we would like a tour of the stadium club and of course we said yes. She opened the door of the stadium club and said ENJOY and left us there. We were not sure what to do but we decided to order some drinks and we stayed for the whole game. It was so much fun with nice chairs, clean bathrooms and air conditioning. We enjoyed it and we know we will never be that lucky again to sit in the stadium club. Towards the end of the night we decided to walk out and get nachos (they had a buffet in the stadium club but it was $32 a plate) but the concession stands were already closed. As we were walking back a man asked if I could do him a favor. I was a little nervous but I was with friends. He wanted us to go into one of the Suites to take a picture of their group. It was so neat and then they gave us drinks and food. What a great night!! While we were having fun at the game the kids stayed home with grandpa and they went out for dinner.

Home Improvement Project

We are trying to update our house and get out of the 70's so here are some before and after pictures of our front entry way. It made a huge difference painting the dark wood. Now all I need to do is go shopping and buy things for the walls.

Life Must Go On

Sorry that it has been awhile since I have blogged. My mother-in-law passed away last week after battling cancer for 5 years. I was one of the lucky ones that had one the best mother-in-laws out there. She did so much for our family and she will be extremely missed. She always liked the saying "Life must go on" so we are trying to live by that. My mom, dad, sister, and my adorable niece Keeley came up for the weekend. They have no idea how much they helped us out. Unfortunately, we did not get many pictures taken but here are a few. Oh, I need to buy light switch covers and then our home improvement project is done. At least we had time to get it finished before my family got here. I will blog pictures of it tomorrow.

Swim Day

Aunt Ann called and invited the kids to go swimming at her community pool. The kids love going over there and the weather was perfect. I left the kids with her and I came home and worked on my new home improvement project. (I am keeping it a secret from my mom and sister.) I will blog pictures when I am finished. After a busy morning of swimming, Aunt Ann took Cass and Dylan to McDonalds. They were so excited because I hate McDonalds and never take them. Thanks Aunt Ann for the fun day.

Cass will shoot me someday for this lovely picture!!!

Movie Day

This is the first full week of summer vacation for the kids so I decided to take the whole week off and pretend I have the summer off also. I am working on another big home improvement project this week but I told the kids we would do something fun everyday this week. We went to the movies today and saw "UP" in 3D. It was cute but I still think nothing beats the movie "Cars".

Cass got a refill on the popcorn after the movie so she could snack on it all afternoon. She ate the whole tub by herself.
