National Chocolate Cake Day

Today is National Chocolate Cake Day! I made an eggless chocolate cake with a browned butter cream cheese filling and a chocolate buttercream frosting.  We had to try some of it last night and then I took the rest to work today.

My sister said she loved it and Michael said he wanted it for his birthday dessert and he is not even a cake person.

I think they are a little sad that it is gone.

A Visit From My Sister

My sister surprised Dylan at his basketball game. What a game to watch because they won by one point. It was definitely a nail biter.

My sister is only here for a VERY short time but I love it when she comes to visit even if I only get to see her for a little while.

Harlem Globetrotters

Today Michael and I took Dylan to see the Harlem Globetrotters. Actually, Dylan got free tickets when he went to the Harlem Globetrotter Basketball Camp.

Ripping off their pants before the game!

How on earth did he get up there so quickly?

Line dance time

Dylan loved it!

I love my baby boy!!

Rio Theater

Cass and I met some of my friends at the Rio Theater to see PHILOMENA.  The Rio Theater opened on Christmas Day in 1946 and is in the National Register of Historic Places.

Fun night at the movies!! Thanks Cass for taking our picture.

Four more Oscar movies to go!!

Happy Monday

It was nice having the day off! Michael had to work but he took us to Brownes Irish Market for lunch. It is the oldest Irish business in North America.

Eating lunch

Then Cass and I dropped the boys off at home and I took Cass to Cupcake A La Mode.  She had three cards that said "free cupcake".

It was hard for Cass to choose and she was a little disappointed that they didn't have a red velvet cupcake.

After dinner mint, vanilla creme de cocoa and marshmallow fondue.

Of course I had to have a movie date with some friends. Sheila, Mitchell, Nick(taking the picture), Trent and Vicki(not pictured) saw WOLF OF WALL STREET. We are trying to watch all of the Oscar nominated movies again this year. I was really surprised but I liked the movie.

Yay for a four day work week!!

Extra Credit

Cass came home and said that if she went to see LONE SURVIVOR she would get extra credit in US History. I loved that it was actually extra credit I could help with. We all thought it was a really good movie.

I wish all extra credit could be going to the movies.

Coffee and Basketball

A coffee tour and five basketball games is what I did this weekend.  Saturday Michael and I took a tour at The Roasterie Coffee factory.  It was a free tour and our tour guide was great.

Lots and lots of coffee beans

I now have a better appreciation of coffee and what it takes before I can drink a delicious cup of coffee.

The airplane represents air roasted coffee and very few companies air roast their beans.

Then we went to a basketball tournament and the Eagles took second place.  Good job Eagles!

Old Coca Cola tins

Michael removing the old vanity.

Tiling floor for the first time

The poor toilet even had to sit outside in a little snow.

I was so excited to have a Coca Cola bathroom but after 12 years I was DONE!

Thanks Michael for all of your hard work! I love it!

Too Cold for School

What do you do when it is too cold for school? You go to Sky Zone trampoline park.  School was cancelled because it was too cold not because we had a major snow storm.  When I got up this morning the thermometer said negative nine. YIKES!

Dylan loves playing dodgeball on the trampolines.

Thanks Cass for taking us to Sky Zone.  We are sure glad that you work there! (now I am exhausted)

Cass taking a little break

I wanted to share this picture.  Dylan heated up some french toast sticks for breakfast and I noticed what he had done with them.  Oh, Dylan!!

Great presentation!

Back to school tomorrow but we really enjoyed our day off!

Trying to Stay Warm

Yesterday, Michael smoked a turkey before the temperature outside drastically dropped.

Mason knew he would be getting a yummy treat after daddy cut up the turkey.

Dylan worked for over an hour on his card house and it fell down numerous times and he was getting very frustrated.  When it finally decided to stay put he took a picture of it.

This evening we had a basketball game to go watch.  It was hard to get out of my warm comfy clothes and get out in this nasty cold weather.

I am glad I did because they played a girls team for the first time ever!  They were eighth graders and the height difference was humorous.

We even made Cass get out of her comfy clothes and go watch her brother play!  POOR BABY!

Oh and we get the day off tomorrow because it is going to be too cold out.  I am not going to complain!!
