Another Short Visit

Yesterday my sister flew into KC for a meeting and spent the night and flew back home today.  I always enjoy our time together no matter how short the visit.  I usually go to bed around 9:30 but I stayed up with my sister till 11:00pm so I was a little tired at work.

Today I received a text from Cass that said "Can I fix dinner tonight?"  Who on earth would say no?  She made bierocks for dinner and I made Andes mint cookie dough truffles for work tomorrow.

Fun Weekend with Grandma and Grandpa

Mom and Dad came up this weekend to visit and we had a fun time. Saturday morning Mom said she needed to go to Walmart and everyone said "Why do we have to go to Walmart? Yuck!" Dad asked why I just couldn't take them to a fancy Walmart so I said "alright"!!  So I took them on a little road trip and took them to the fanciest looking Walmart I know. Just look at the beautiful stone pillars:)

After Walmart we stopped at Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe for lunch and it was sooo delicious.  It was our first time eating there and now I really wish we had one closer to home.

We did some more shopping and then off to Saints Pub for dinner and to watch some of the KU game. Then we came home to watch the rest of the game and Mom and I enjoyed some pineapple amaretto sours.

Before Mom and Dad left this morning I made pecan cinnamon roll biscuits which were very yummy!

Dylan worked on his science project which was actually a shrink a dink!

Watching to make sure it was shrinking

Success!  Now if he can get it to school without breaking it.

My sunday afternoon baking project was almond melt-away cookies.

Now I am going to go make spaghetti a la philly for dinner and then go to Dylan's 7:45 game.

Three Day Weekend

Sooo... Saturday and Sunday consisted of 6 basketball games at 5 different locations.  Michael and Dylan did find time to pick on Cass.  I have no idea why she continued to make us dinner after all of that.

Mason saved her!! Cass then continued to make homemade chicken fettuccine alfredo (we used rotisserie chicken) and I made stuffed garlic monkey bread (we used Rhodes rolls).  They were both very good recipes.

This morning Michael made us bacon cinnamon rolls.  You unroll canned cinnamon rolls and put bacon on the strips and roll them back up.

Before baking

Finished product

Cass had to work this morning and she brought us home a pizza from Marco's Pizza for lunch.

She was trying to rest and listen to music before she had to go back to work but she caught me taking a picture.

Since Dylan didn't get enough basketball this weekend and our patio is still covered with snow, he was shooting in the garage into an empty trash can.

Cass is still at work and Michael and Dylan are playing paintball with the Eagles basketball team. Mason and I are enjoying a nice quiet evening and I even had time to bake brownies with dulce de leche peanut frosting for work tomorrow.

Valentine's Day

WOW! I love Russell Stover Chocolates so Michael and I will be enjoying this big box.  Michael also got Boulevard Chocolate Ale (which liquor stores usually sell out within just a couple of hours of delivery) and Michael was quick to go buy some last week.  We have never tried it so I am looking forward to having some.

Chocolate Ale and a huge box of chocolates is the perfect gift!!

They love Russell Stover chocolates also!

Dylan even got $20 and Cass got a new shirt and scarf.

Papa Murphy's heart shape pizza for dinner

Comfy clothes, pizza, chocolate ale, chocolates and a redbox movie is what I call a perfect Valentine's Day!!

Where Did the Weekend Go?

We tried a new pizza place in town. It is called Pie Five Pizza and it is so delicious!!  It reminds of Subway because you pick the toppings and watch them make it.

Cass and I had the margherita pizza and we loved it.

We were able to pick up Cass from work and the four of us got to enjoy a yummy lunch together.

OK!  I know this is a silly picture but I am so excited about by new cups I got at Costco.  We have had the same darn cups for years and years and years.  Now I have new colorful cups! ( yes they are even dishwasher safe)

Eight small and eight large

Of course we had a basketball tournament this weekend and the Eagles got second.  Dylan did not want me to take a picture of the runner up medal so here he is being a pain!

Finally, I got a decent picture of him with his medal!

Michael made an awesome dinner tonight.  He made seasoned broiled pork chops and they were one of the best pork chops I have ever had.

I made snickers chex mix and Michael just informed me that it should be illegal so I am not sure if I will have any to take to work.

Last Oscar Nominated Movie

I am finished! I have seen all nine Oscar nominated movies!
The original Glenwood theater opened in 1966 and was one of the most popular theaters in Kansas City.

It was a great start to the weekend seeing a great movie with a great friend!  NEBRASKA was an excellent movie and we loved it!! (Pete also came to the movie and took this lovely picture)

Now off to a 9pm basketball game!

Three Snow Days

I had to put up with these four seventh grade boys for the last three days!! Thank goodness I had gone to the grocery store to buy food before the snow storm.

I had all of the ingredients to make funfetti donuts for breakfast and they were gone before Cass even got out of bed.

I am sure Mason was trying to decide if he should pee on the deck or walk through a foot of snow to get to the yard.

He was looking for his friends to play with but they were smart enough to stay inside.

Right now Cass is at work, Dylan is spending the night with his friends and Michael just left to go out to dinner with some of the guys from Crossfit. This means quiet time with Mason!! YAY
Back to work tomorrow!

Snow Day

I LOVE snow days! Michael and I left the house at 7:40am before the snow really started to get a Starbucks coffee and donuts for the kids.

Then for lunch Cass and I made jalapeno puffs. The recipe said to fry them but we baked them.

My bowl for gathering snow for snow ice cream.

Snow ice cream sundae

Having fun with my girl!

Even though we had a snow storm today, I ended up having three extra boys over. They were fighting over the last bite of snow ice cream.

They loved it and told me it was amazing.

I bought these yesterday to go with our ice cream. (Cookie dough Oreos and marshmallow crispy Oreos)

Later in the afternoon I caught the boys doing this!

A little static Mason???

Mason also enjoyed being lazy today!

Now it is snow margarita time. YIPPEE!

Yes, I have another snow day tomorrow!
