A Much Needed Weekend!

I really needed a fun and relaxing weekend and I got it. Thanks to an early birthday present from my friend Katie I was able to enjoy a table for two with my husband at Piropos Grille in Parkville, MO. Our dinner was delicious! Thank you so much Katie!

Then when we got home we started having a dance party with Michael as the DJ. I can not believe we stayed up till midnight dancing, singing and laughing the night away.

Today Cass and I had a nail appointment and then I made peanut butter sheet cake and white Texas sheet cake(without the walnuts) for work tomorrow.
Ready for another extremely busy week with meetings and trainings all five days!

Cowboys and Aliens

What a busy week!!!!!! Some of my friends from work celebrated the end of an extremely busy week and we saw COWBOYS AND ALIENS. I was expecting it to be horrible and it was not at all bad but definitely not my favorite movie. It was so nice to relax and start the weekend. (finally)

Thanks everyone for a fun evening!!!
We have started a movie club at work and it starts on Wednesday. Looking forward to more movies.

Daddy is Home!!

Michael got home last night around midnight after being gone for five days. We are sure glad he is back home.

He needed a little nap today!

This morning I made him a potato crusted quiche for his welcome home breakfast. The recipe called for bacon but I put sausage in it.

Then we had basketball this afternoon and I wanted to put these pictures on the blog so everyone could see how tall the other team was. Dylan looked so tiny!

Dylan turning in his Kansas City Premiere uniform. He played basketball for 9 months and now it is time for football.

Tonight we have enjoyed a quiet evening with some chocolate chip peanut butter truffle cookies.

It is Hot Outside!

Why not build a water slide in the backyard when it is over 100 degrees out?! While the rest of us did not even want to go outside Dylan was outside with pieces of wood, nails and trash bags building his own water slide.

It worked a lot better when we poured vegetable oil on the bags!
At least it kept him busy for awhile!!!

Trying to Stay Cool!

This morning I got up and made maple glazed and chocolate glazed mini donuts for the kids.

Then we went to a Redbox and we each picked out a movie and that is all we accomplished today. We did not want to spend anytime outside!
I do not think we will be spending anytime outside tomorrow either!

Hot Summer Day

I have taken the whole week off from work and it is so hot outside that I do not want to leave the house!

Dylan did not want to wait for me to cut the watermelon!

This evening my friend Alysha took Cass and Dylan to go see the Winnie The Pooh movie. I love going to movies but I had no desire to go see this one. Alysha volunteered to take the kids since she actually wanted to see it.
Thanks Alysha!!!! Cass and Dylan enjoyed spending time with you!

Great Weekend

My mom and dad came to visit this weekend and we had lots of fun. Michael and I even got away Friday night and had dinner at One Bite Japanese Grill.

Michael did a little of work in the back yard. He took down a tree and he was done by 8:30am Saturday and then he had the rest of the day to do whatever.

Grandpa gave a driving lesson to Cass but started by just using a Tupperware lid. He taught Drivers Education for 25 years so we figured he would have more patience with Cass.

We did lots of shopping this weekend. Cass and I now have matching pajama pants.

They are Mr. Potato Head pants! They were our favorite purchase of the weekend.

Today we all went to the movies. Grandpa and Grandma took Cass and Dylan to go see Zookeeper and Michael and I saw Horrible Bosses. (I really enjoyed the movie) Then we watched Dylan play basketball. It was a good game and they only won by 5 points.

Tonight we had a delicious meal. Michael grilled hamburgers and we also had Chinese cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad, chips and dip, and watermelon.
I made caramel swirled pretzel m&m blondies. YUMMY DESSERT!
Mom and Dad are going on a mini vacation and they will be back on Thursday and they will stay a couple more days before heading back home.

Darn Alarm Clock

We had a nice thunderstorm last night but the power went out. It does not go out very often at our house and it got a little warm in the middle of the night. My alarm clock is SUPPOSE to set back to the real time when the power comes back on but it did not. My alarm went off at 6:00am and I got ready for work. I came downstairs and it was 5:10am. What time did I really get up???? Who knows but now I have a little extra time to post some recipes.

(check it after half of the time because mine was close to done)

Hope you enjoy the recipes!!!

Busy Day

Today we were non-stop busy! We left the house at 7:45am and drove to Lawrence for a basketball tournament. We played and won the first game.

Then we drove to Olathe for football registration.

We had a nice lunch at the Sunset Grill.

Then we drove back to Lawrence and stopped by Allen Fieldhouse and drove through the KU campus.

Dylan was comparing his hand to Cole Aldrich.

We also stopped and looked at the KU football field.

Before going to the last game we ate dinner at Paddy O'Quigleys. It was not very good. We won game two and three.
We arrived back home at 9pm. Tomorrow we go back to Lawrence to play in the championship game!

Basswood Resort

We love to go camping at Basswood Resort. This was the first time we let both kids invite a friend to go camping with us and they all really enjoyed themselves. Michael and I had fun with our friends Willie and Lucinda who we met at Basswood a few months ago and we also had fun with our new friends Bryan and Macey.

The kids spent a lot of time riding their bikes and

swimming!

Joshua and Dylan

On Saturday we took a quick trip into Weston and saw some of the flooding from the Missouri River.

Finding a good fishing spot

Cass and Alisa went on a wagon ride

Joshua and Dylan caught a turtle and then let it go back into the pond.

Last night we had a nice little meal with our new camping friends. Michael smoked pork butt and we also had coleslaw and chips. Macey made a delicious peach dump cake in her dutch oven for dessert. What a fun time!

Joshua ended the weekend by catching a large catfish. He was so excited!

Oh, I made strawberry infused vodka last week. It was a huge hit!

Today Dylan has been busy lighting firecrackers. One of his favorite things to do is put a firecracker in a marshmallow and watch it go but this year he is wrapping it with duct tape. Who knows!!!

Of course he wears his eye and ear protection!

We are getting ready to eat our stuffed jalapenos (yes, we eat them quite often), grilled steak and mashed potatoes. We also have yummy gooey Twix cookies for dessert.
Cass and I will spend the rest of the evening watching the boys light off the fireworks. Wow, the three day weekend flew by!!!
