Dinner and Dessert

When Daddy is gone we sometimes have pizza parties in our pajamas in the family room or go out to dinner. Tonight we had a nice dinner at Panera Bread and dessert at BonBon Frozen Yogurt.

I had a bake sale at work this week and forgot to post the recipe for my Heath Bar cupcakes. I am definitely keeping that recipe!!

Weekend Activities

On Friday we had to bring our favorite tailgate snack to work and since a lot of people were bringing chips and dip I made something sweet.

We started off our weekend by grilling taco burgers with homemade salsa.

Then Michael and I went shopping for a new light to go in the dining room. We have had the same ugly light that was here when we moved in 10 years ago. Goodbye!!!!

Hello new light fixture!!

Saturday night Michael and I went out to dinner to Michael Smith Restaurant. Aunt Ann gave us a groupon thank goodness because it is an expensive place to eat. She took the kids out to dinner while we enjoyed a quiet dinner alone.

Today Dylan had a football game but it did not end so well!! Go #27
I have been busy baking cupcakes this evening for the bake sale at work tomorrow. Now off to bed!!

Wonderful Weekend!

On Friday I received a phone call from my sister and she asked me where I was. I told her I was able to leave work early and I was sitting at home. She was not happy because apparently she was sitting in the parking lot of my work waiting to surprise me. I was still surprised that she was in town and wanted to spend the night with me. I was VERY excited. We went to Starbucks, Oak Park Mall and we even went to a movie. I finally saw THE HELP and it was a really good movie. My sister left Saturday morning and even though it was a short time I enjoyed every moment of it.

Sisters

Michael also made my weekend! He had been gone for 5 days and he brought me back three different flavors of coffee. I am going to take them to work and try them this week. He also brought me a Starbucks coffee in bed at 8:00am Saturday morning.

There was a little wrestling going on this weekend at our house. Dylan walked downstairs with pillows in his pants and shirt and he wore an underwear helmet. (hope the underwear was clean)

Today I enjoyed the rainy day and made my homemade vegetable beef soup and chocolate toffee bars for dessert.

I forgot to post the recipe for my snickerdoodle cupcakes with cinnamon brown sugar buttercream frosting. I made them for my friends at work since we were having a busy crazy week.
Thanks family for making my weekend enjoyable and hopefully I will have a better week at work.

Injury Update

Most of you know that Dylan was injured during football practice last night. We had 2 1/2 hours of bonding time in the ER and at one moment he told me we could just go home. No broken bones but he did come home in a sling. He will be back at practice on Friday and game on Saturday. The joys of motherhood:)

This is Dylan before bed last night!

After having a stressful evening last night and a stressful day at work I made treats tonight. Baking makes me HAPPY!

It is 8:20pm and I think I am going to bed now! Goodnight!

Cougars and Jayhawks

It was football day! We all woke up and put on our SMNW Cougars attire and headed for Dylan's first game of the season. Dylan started on offense, he made a 2-point conversion and his team won 36-6. It was also an absolutely beautiful day for a game.

My little #27

Good job Dylan!

After the game we went straight home and changed into KU attire and headed for Lawrence to go to the football game. Before the game we stopped by Jefferson's to grab a bite to eat. The menu looks like a dollar bill and there were dollar bills all over the walls.

Dylan and the KU Jayhawk

KU won 45-42. It was an awesome game to watch!!

My Hometown

We spent the weekend in my little hometown of Caldwell, Ks. and when I say little I mean little. The population is only 1500 people. Caldwell has a lot of history and has been a town since 1871. Here is my hometown:

How many towns have the Ornate Box Turtle painted on the side of a building?? I think just one because we are the ones who fought to get that turtle to be the state reptile and was successful.

I am sure not many towns have fake cowboys on top of buildings!!

My children and nieces

My dad had a big metal detecting hunt and we were in charge of feeding them. We were VERY busy!!

Finding treasure???

I can not believe we even had a cake with a metal detector on it.

Michael trying to grill hot dogs without any grilling tools.

Sunset in Caldwell, Ks.

This morning was the cattle drive. It started in Caldwell with around 200 cattle.

I had fun but I am glad that I am back in the city with a Starbucks and a Target right around the corner.
