Bake Sale

We are having a bake sale at work tomorrow and I made chocolate chip cupcakes with homemade buttercream frosting. I found chocolate chip cookie sandwiches at the store so I used them as a decoration for the top. I try so hard to be creative but I really need to take a class. I went through 5 Ziploc bags just trying to frost the darn things because the seams would burst and frosting would go everywhere.

Double Feature

Last night my friend Sheila and I went to the movies! Her birthday was Sunday so this was her birthday treat. We saw "Inception" and "The Town". We LOVED "The Town" and we thought "Inception" was alright! We had a lot of fun and that was the first time I had ever seen two movies back to back! I am so glad my first time was with you Sheila! :)

Food Club

Menu:

Smoked Pork Shoulder(pork butt)
Green Rice
Homemade Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Here is Mike and Jenni with the absolutely delicious cake.

They are trying so hard to be cool!

Me and Jenni

The guys had a lot of laughs looking at their yearbook and their senior class picture.

Apparently we were not that entertaining for Dylan!
We will try to have another food club night before Jenni delivers her baby. Then they will probably be out of commission for awhile.

What should I make for dessert next month????

Dinner and Movie Roast

We had a great time this evening with our friends Ann and Ricky. We started our evening off by going to Grinders for dinner and it was delicious. Then off to a movie roast. A movie roast is where you watch a movie and there are comedians with microphones making fun of it the whole time. (It is for adults only) We saw "Breakfast Club" and in December we want to go see "Home Alone". It really is a fun time.

Popcorn tub of drinks!

Looking forward to next Friday night because the four of us are trying a new restaurant.

Highs and Lows

We got up early and drove to the Lee Summit, Mo airport for the Young Eagles Program. Once a month they give free rides for kids ages 8-17. Cass and Dylan rode in a 1957 two prop plane. Of course I was a little nervous letting my kiddos go up without me. (they were a little nervous also since this was their first time in a plane)

Taking off

Oh thank goodness! They are landing!

They had a so much fun!

Cass and Dylan with their pilot! They each got a Young Eagles certificate. This was the high point of our day!

Now with the low! Dylan's football team was ahead the whole game except for the last 3 minutes and then they lost. We are so proud of Dylan because he had one of his best games. The other team was about to make another touchdown and Dylan was the only one there to tackle the player. He held on to him and wouldn't let go and the player fell to the ground. It was so awesome to see Dylan's teammates patting him on his helmet and telling him good job.

My little #27

Then we came home and Michael grilled chicken in the rain. I thought this was an adorable picture.

Little Cougars Watching the Big Cougars

The SMNW fourth grade cougars went to the football game to watch the SMNW high school cougars. They were so cute watching the players warm up before the game.

Then they were allowed to go out on the field and form a tunnel with the band and cheerleaders.

Birthday Present

Yes, my birthday is in August but Katie wanted to take me to dinner and a movie and this was the first time we were both free for me to cash in on my gift. We had a delicious dinner at Mi Ranchito and then we had some time to shop at Macy's before the movie. I found an UGLY (hope I do not offend anyone) Halloween sweater for Katie to try on. We were hysterical in the dressing room and I am sure people were questioning our sanity.

I think the pumpkins were made out of felt!

Then we went to Glenwood Theater to see "The Kids are Alright". It is a very small and old theater. Katie refused to sit on the ripped seat.

There was a bright red door in our theater with a peep hole. STRANGE!!!!

As you can see, the theater was extremely small and Katie was even shocked that there were no cup holders.

We were having fun taking pictures of the theater until someone walked in.

Thank you so much Katie for a great evening. It was a wonderful birthday gift!

All in One Day!

We left the house this morning to head down to Wichita around 7:45am and arrived back home around 7:45pm. Our first stop was to see Great Granny! She did not know that we were stopping by so she was very happy to see us.

Then after our visit with Great Granny we went to Jason's Deli to meet Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Robert and Aunt Janice for lunch.

Dylan, Grandpa and Cass

We had a very short visit but it was great to see everyone!

Then the time had arrived for Dylan to attend a free basketball clinic in Wichita with some of the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA players and with special guests Cole Aldrich and Nick Collison. (both former KU players) Cole was one of Dylan's favorite KU players so he just wanted to be able to see him.

Cole Aldrich and Nick Collison

Dylan wanted to ask Cole how he got so tall but he was never called on.

We are all very sad that this picture is blurry! This is Dylan playing 2 on 1 with Cole Aldrich. He was on cloud nine!

Dylan shooting a basket and Nick Collison was trying to block the shot.
A big thank you to Grandma who sent us the email telling us about this event! It was a long day and we are all tired but it was a lot of fun.

Football Season is Here!

Wow! Football season is already here. Dylan had his first game today and we are not going to mention the score. (it might of been 30 something to 6) Dylan had a great tackle and he told us it felt good! I did not sit in a very good spot for pictures but I tried to get a few.

Dylan was one of the captains for the game!

After the game we went to Grandpa A and Marge's new house and they put Michael to work but they did take us to Mi Ranchito for dinner.

For dessert, we walked next door to "Smallcakes". We tried the CHOCOHOLIC cupcake and the DECADENT CHOCOLATE cupcake. The cupcake sandwich at "Cupcake a la mode" takes the cake. (get it! takes the cake)

Lake of the Ozarks

We spent Labor Day weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. Friday night we arrived at the campground around 7:30pm and we were starving so we ate dinner at Scotty's Drive-in. Michael started going there back in 1982 so Scotty's has a lot of yummy memories for him and he thought the kids should experience it.

I discovered Friday night that I had not brought my contact case so I had to use plastic bowls. (You can actually see my contacts floating)

Saturday morning we went to Daylight Donuts and I had to take a picture of this because we thought it was funny! Sunrise Beach Police Dept. right next door the donut shop.

Here are some pictures of the beach at our campground and the kids swimming. Frankie and Louies had a live band every night and it was so much fun.

Michael and the kids had fun driving go-carts in Osage Beach.

Then they were nice to me and took me to the outlet mall!

Sunday we spent the day on the lake. Here we go backing out of the dock!

Cass had fun in the tube!

Dylan not so much!

Why does the lake make you so sleepy???

Surprise!! Cass texting on the boat!

Dylan drove us back home! (Not really! He got to drive for a few miles very slowly!)

When we got back to the dock, Dylan did a little swimming before packing up and going back to the campground.

We had a great weekend! The rest of the evening will be spent sitting in my chair! I am going to forget I have tons of laundry!
