Fun with the Family

Dylan took advantage of having Uncle Frankie around so there was a little one on one game of basketball.

Me and my sister ( I know, we look nothing alike)

My sister and Frankie left around 11:00am and was gone for exactly 24 hours. We started our day off by going to Smashburger for lunch and it was really good!

They had rosemary, olive oil and garlic fries!!!!!

Keeley did not eat at Smashburger because she decided to take a nap on my lap.

After we left Smashburger we had to stop at Sonic so Keeley could get some lunch and then we went to the park so she could have a little picnic and play.

Then we went shopping! After we got home Keeley cuddled up with me in my chair and apparently the ten minute nap at Smashburger was not enough and she fell asleep on me again. I do not know how I got out of my chair without waking her up.

After the nap we went to Kansas Sampler. We love that store! Dylan had fun playing the KU bean bag game.

Last night Keeley and Dylan were painting in the garage.

The best part of our evening was having daddy back home!!!

I loved having my family here and I wish I could see them more often!!!

Long Week!!!!

It has been a long week and Michael will finally come home tomorrow after being in Atlanta for six days. I think the week was long also because I knew my sister, Keeley, Frankie and mom were coming up for the weekend. My dad is running for county commissioner and he could not come for the weekend because he had to be in a parade. The family arrived around 6:45pm and we were all starving so we went to one of my sister's favorite places to eat. Jose Peppers has one of the best dishes in town and it is called Pollo Magnifico so my sister and I shared it.

Then we came home and celebrated some birthdays. Frankie, sister, mom, dad and I have birthdays within a few weeks of each other so mom brought this cake for us. It looks a little melted on top but it did travel for four hours to get here. I felt a little bad because today is dad's birthday and he could not be here to eat cake. Happy Birthday Dad!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dylan took advantage of Uncle Frankie being here so they played a little football. Dylan was working on hiking the ball.

Keeley was enjoying her cousin Cass.

Sister and I finished our evening with foot rubs like we used to do. It was wonderful. Of course, Frankie and mom made fun of us but we did not care.

Tomorrow my sister and Frankie are leaving in the morning to go spend time with friends and go to a wedding and they will not be back until Sunday morning. Guess who is taking care of Keeley! Yes, Aunt Cole and Grandma!! I am sure we will have lots of fun!

Why is it always about food?

If I could talk about food all day long, I would be soooo happy! Today my friends Angie and Rachel took a little break from work and drove to Cupcake A La Mode for a little treat. I have been craving a cupcake sandwich from this place but have never gotten around to going there. Well, now I think I have determined that I would much rather eat a cupcake sandwich than a regular cupcake. This was so delightful!!!!!!

Then tonight my friend Ann and I had plans to try to a new place called 75 Cafe. It was CLOSED!! Ann and I love to cook and try new recipes and try new restaurants so that is why I thought it was hilarious that we ended up at Pizza Street. That just shows you that we can have fun no matter where or what we are doing. Thanks Ann for our great time!

BRGR and Foo's Fabulous Custard

My friend Katie and her niece Finley met Cass, Dylan and I at BRGR for dinner. (get it?? burger without the vowels). The burgers were absolutely delicious!! Thanks Katie for suggesting the restaurant.

Finely with a french fry stuck in her mouth!
Katie and I split this burger and it was called MANGIA. It had a fried tomato, a parmesan crisp and a garlic aioli on a multi-grain bun.

We also got truffle fries, onion rings and the best sweet potato fries I have ever eaten.

Cass got a burger with onion straws, bbq sauce, bacon and cheddar cheese.

It was so big that she was having trouble eating it.

Finley had a little trouble also!

This is a strange picture but I loved the restrooms. It was boy, girl, boy, girl and then everyone shared the same sinks to wash hands.

They really are adorable!!!

Oh, this is Howard! We do not know what kind of bug this is but it was large and Finley named it Howard. She asked me if he smiled for the picture!

Apparently, we did not think we were full enough so we stopped at Foo's Fabulous Custard and since we had never been there we thought we should try it at least once! (good excuse) The coffee toffee concrete was awesome!

Our friend Lorie from work met us there with her husband and 4 kids! It was a great way to end the evening!!!

Super Slide

For some reason, Dylan thinks that our stairs is just another fun-filled ride. I put a stop to him getting in the laundry basket and riding down the stairs so he decided to ride down the stairs in his sleeping bag. He informed me that he is safe and he will not break his neck because of all of the pillows at the bottom.

Today he put a pillow in his pants because it was getting a little rough on his rear end!

Miss Eighth Grader

Cass had her first day of 8th grade today. She is now the top dog of middle school. Wait a minute, that means we will have a freshman in high school next year. OK, we are not going to worry about that now! Cass did not want her picture taken today but Michael took pictures anyway!!! I am sure she was a little embarrassed.

Look how clean her locker is right now!!!

Mr. Fourth Grader

Dylan had his first day of 4th grade today. His teacher makes cookies or brownies every Friday for the students who turn in all of their homework on time (with their name on it) and if they behave during the week. That is actually great motivation for Dylan!!

I can not believe my baby boy is a 4th grader!!!!!

Where did Summer Break Go?

That is what Cass and Dylan are saying today!!! Tomorrow is Dylan's first day of school and Cass starts on Tuesday. This morning we went to Aunt Ann's community pool and took a quick swim. It was a great way to start the day. When we left the house it was 75 degrees but the water was warm.

Michael and Aunt Ann enjoying the cool weather!

Ice Cream Social

Tonight was the Benninghoven Ice Cream Social and Dylan was able to meet his new teacher and put his school supplies away. I can not believe the first day of school is Monday!

Cass and Dylan always pick Popsicles over ice cream at the ice cream social. Silly kids!!!!

A Great Birthday!

I was able to leave work at 2:30 today and when I got home I was surprised to see that the kitchen had been cleaned and I had some presents. I got some wonderful coupons for free hugs, a silicone spoonula, cheese grater(I spent 30 minutes last week trying to grate cheese with a zester and it does not work), and a new Pitt State Gorilla shirt.

Then the family took me to Blanc Burgers and Bottles and I had the Bison burger and truffle fries. It was soooo good!

I loved the fries in the little grocery carts!!!

Dylan was not finished with his coke when we were ready to leave and we were not going to waste $3 so we made him drink it really fast and even the waiter was cheering him on.

For dessert we decided to try Peachwave. They have different flavors of self serve frozen yogurt and 40 different mix-ins.

After they weigh it then they tell us how much we owe!

Michael liked the yogurt but not the chairs!!!

Now I am going to enjoy a glass of wine (it is called Cupcake) and do nothing.
Thanks to all of my family and friends for making my birthday so great!!!!
