Leaving for Michigan tomorrow

I am flying to Michigan in the morning to go to a training for work and I will not be home until Friday night so this is my last blog for awhile. I am going to miss blogging. Today we drove out to the Legends.
In the parking lot they had a free Titanic display. It was really neat and Dylan could not believe that the items really came from the Titanic. For lunch, we went to Chipotle Mexican Grill. The rest of the day I have been packing and doing some last minute shopping at Walmart and Target. Tonight we will be spending some time on the deck and relaxing before my big week.

Michael has learned that Cass is too old to hold his hand but every once in a while she will do it if she knows that her friends are not around. I am glad I took this picture because this could be the last time. (especially after her friends read the blog)

I would like to wish my sister a Happy Birthday. Her birthday is not until the 29th but since I will be out of town I just wanted her to know that I will be thinking about her anyway.

I love you sister!! Thanks for being the best sister I could have. I hope you have a great birthday.

Glad it is Friday

Happy Friday! My friend Katie and her niece Finley met us at the movies this morning and we saw G-Force. It was a really cute movie. This afternoon I took Cass and Dylan to 7-Eleven to get slurpees and then Cass helped me make Martha Stewart Chocolate Chip Cookies. They have lots of brown sugar in them and that it why they are so delicious. Tonight I am making Spaghetti Pizza Lasagna.

Enjoy the recipes and have a great weekend!!!

Power Play

We spent the afternoon at Power Play today. Our friend Keri, her nephews Luke and Nathan, Dylan, Cass and I had fun playing cosmic miniature golf. The kids also drove go-karts, bumper cars and played games. We also stopped at Sonic for half price drinks before going home. What a fun day!!!

Cass and Dylan are home!!

Cass and Dylan got home this afternoon. Before they arrived I decided to make Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies for them. My friend Katie heard I was making brownies and decided to stop and get one before going over to her sister's house.

Tonight we drove to Paola which is about 40 minutes away to eat at The BBQ Shack.
It was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives so we wanted to try it.

Here is Cass trying the famous Atomic Buffalo Turd. They were a little spicy but good. It was just a stuffed jalepeno. Then we decided to stop at the KC Wakeboard Waterpark. We were lucky enough to watch some guys doing tricks on their wakeboards.

Peace and Quiet

I can not believe how quiet it has been around this house. Mom and Dad took Cass and Dylan to Caldwell on Saturday and then on to Norman to visit my sister. Michael did not get home until late Sunday night so I was all alone. I went to Starbucks several times and watched many Lifetime movies. Michael and I decided to go out to eat tonight since the children will be coming home tomorrow. We have been craving catfish for months so we went to Jumpin Catfish. It was so good and the craving is gone. Well, I enjoyed the peace and quiet the last few days but I am really looking forward to the kids coming home.

Grandma and Grandpa are Here!!!!!!

We are so excited that Grandma and Grandpa are here visiting. We went shopping at Walmart and Target before we went out for dinner. We ate at Kokopelli Mexican Cantina. I love their Angel Fire Chicken/Spinach Enchiladas. They are so yummy! Of course, we had to make a trip to Sheridans Frozen Custard for dessert. Sister, you were right! All we do is eat when mom and dad come visit.

Pizza, Bowling,and Dessert

We had a fun-filled evening. First, we went to Papa Kenos to eat a slice of pizza. This is one of my favorite places to eat pizza. Dylan enjoyed riding the horse more than eating.

Then off to the bowling alley! Cass and Dylan each had a free bowling coupon so that made it pretty cheap.

Cass got a spare and decided to do a little dance. Oh well, it did not help because I still beat them both. HA, HA !!! I felt a little bad (not really) that I won so I took them to Sonic for a treat.

Our Weekend without Cass

Cass went on her first canoe trip without us so it was just me and the boys this weekend. Friday night my father-in-law took us out for pizza at Tarationo's. It was delicious.

Saturday, I made sure all of the laundry was done because Michael leaves for Las Vegas tomorrow for a week. Dylan and I had time for a trip to Starbucks. Don't worry Dylan did not have coffee in his.

This morning Dylan tried to make a roller coaster out of the cushions from the couch. The second picture shows that it really did not work that well because he fell out of the container.

This afternoon Dylan and I made Rainbow Blondies. We did not put nuts in them and they were sooooooooo good!!!

Cass made it home safely and we are glad she is home. We are looking forward to Grandma and Grandpa coming to visit us this week while Michael is in Las Vegas for work.

Splinter Tweezers

You never know what you will find Dylan doing at our house. Last night, I walked into their bathroom and Dylan was trying to pull his tooth out with plastic splinter tweezers. Well, I went to bed (Michael was watching tv downstairs) and 45 minutes later Dylan woke me up and said that he finally got his tooth out. I call that determination.

Fourth of July Weekend

We started our three day weekend off by having some friends over Friday night. We had lots of fun and we even let the kids do some smoke bombs, firecrackers and sparklers. Michael grilled ranch burgers and we also had stuffed mushrooms, panera bread with dipping sauce, sour cream and chive cheesy potatoes, watermelon, cupcakes and homemade ice cream. Dylan even helped me a little with the ice cream.

Saturday morning Michael and Dylan drove to Missouri to buy fireworks. Around 8am I get a phone call and it was Michael saying "This is your husband, I had to borrow a cell phone and you need to go record channel 9 right now because we are going to be interviewed and it is going to be live." Well, I ran downstairs and I got it recorded 5 seconds before they were on. They were so cute and when the guy asked Dylan what he was excited about most he told him "blowing up marshmallows". Guess who had to go to the store and buy marshmallows!!!! It looks like we had our own fireworks stand.

Cass decided to join in on the fun and she lit a snake escape. She is not into fireworks like Dylan is.

Since we ate so much the night before we only made stuffed jalapenos for dinner and we were all happy with that.

Today we spent the morning watching some tennis and then Michael and Dylan trimmed some trees.

I better go feed my family now. We are having pork cutlets and mashed potatoes and gravy. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
