Weekend Fun

I started the weekend off by going to the Wine and Art Event Friday night with some of my friends. My friend Julie was in town from Oklahoma and it was so much fun spending time with her. We tasted some delicious wines and mouth-watering appetizers. Then Michael picked me up at 8pm because Dylan had a basketball game at 9pm.

We will not talk about the outcome of the game but here are a couple of pictures.

Saturday we went to the 1950's All Electric House/Johnson County Museum.

We decided to try a new place for pizza Saturday night. It was called Johnny Brusco's New York Style Pizza.
They had something called Mini Garlic Knots and Cass took one bite and said "this is the best thing I have ever eaten". They were little dough knots smothered with butter and chunks of garlic and they melted in your mouth. The pizza was pretty good but nothing compared to the garlic knots.

We got home just in time to cheer for KU! Dylan made a sign for the game and what a game that was!!!!!

Today I made Beer Bread for the first time and it was so good and easy. All you do is mix 3 cups of self-rising flour, 3 tsp. sugar and 1 can of room temperature beer. Bake in a loaf pan that has been sprayed with Pam and bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.

I can not believe tomorrow is February and two more sleeps until the Oscar Nominations. :)

CANstruction/Planetarium

CANstruction-this is where groups of people build neat stuff out of cans of food and then donate all the cans to Harvesters after the display is over. This display is at Union Station until February.

Mr. Potato Head

A close up of Mr. Potato Head made out of cans of beans.

Pineapple

Shoe

The shoe was made out of cans of chili.

Gnome in a garden

We stopped at the science store at Union Station and Michael was showing us how to juggle.

Then we went to the show at the Planetarium . We were not impressed with the show but we still had a fun day. Before heading home we stopped for pizza at Grinders. Grinders was on the TV show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The pizza is very good!

Basketball Game and Injury

What a great game!! The Raptors won 8-35. Michael took this picture and I love Dylan's expression on his face.

Dylan did not get a basketball injury! I decided to fall out the garage door and land on my knee cap on the cold concrete floor before the game. I sat there for a minute thinking that there is no way that I did not break my knee cap but before I could cry and yell I stood up and limped all the way to the car. I was not going to miss the basketball game and I did not even look at my knee. My knee was THROBBING all the way to the game and I was holding back my tears. I was regretting not going back inside to get some Advil. I did not even know if I had blood gushing down my leg because I was NOT going to look at it. When we got home Michael put ice on my knee and I took some Advil and had a nice little drink. This morning my knee looks much better!!

Water Aerobics

My friend Sheila and her daughter Katie met me at the gym this morning for a 5:45am water aerobics class. I usually get up at five every morning but leaving the house at 5:20am was a little difficult. It was fun and a lot of hard work. There will be no pictures of this because you do NOT want to see what 5:45am looks like!!!! Thanks Sheila and Katie for going with me and I hope we do it again!
Now I am off to bed even though it is only a little after 8pm. :)

A Visit from Uncle Robert

Dylan had a basketball game Friday night and I was so into the game that this is the only picture I got that night. I thought it was a good picture of him listening to one of his coaches.

Uncle Robert came up to go to the RV/Boat show on Saturday morning. We did not buy a new RV but we did find one we liked a lot.

At the RV/Boat show they had a sea lion show. It was actually very entertaining.

We went to Five Guys for lunch because Uncle Robert had never been there. He thought it was tasty and even took a picture of his hamburger to show Aunt Janice.

Thanks for a great day Uncle Robert!!!!

We have today off and I have been trying to catch up on laundry and the kids have been playing checkers and being lazy. We have done nothing exciting today!!!

Trying to Stay Warm

The thermometer said that it got down to NEGATIVE 6.9 degrees this weekend and that is way too cold for me!

We were all tired of staying at home so we went to the Matt Ross Community Center in Overland Park. We had lots of fun swimming and enjoying the hot tub.

Who is that showing off???

"I think there is water in my eye."

A little game of water basketball

Relaxing in the hot tub

Dylan and Michael shot a few hoops before we went home.

Saturday night Michael made us Dulce de Leche coffee.
Delicious!!!

Here is the snow fort Michael and Dylan worked on.

We ended our nice weekend with a family game of CLUE.

Well, after having 5 days off it will be hard to go back to work tomorrow but we only have 5 days until a 3 day weekend!!

3rd Snow Day in a Row

Three snow days in a row!! Cass and Dylan were getting a little stir crazy since they had been stuck in the house so I let them invite some friends over for the day.

Then Dylan had a 6:00pm basketball game and they won!!

They had an after the game chat!

Dylan scored two points and did a great job on defense! The score was 30-22.

Did I say that I LOVE SNOW DAYS???
