Celebrating The Life of Aunt Ann

Today we said our goodbyes to our Aunt Ann. We took her ashes to Blue Rapids, Ks where her mom and dad are buried. She would have been happy to know that we made a day of it.  We toured her hometown and enjoyed a few stops on the way home.

Cousins

Apparently they go back to the Ice Age.

My niece Emily and I enjoyed the OZ Museum in Wamego, Ks. while the others went shopping.

The real Tin Man signed this cool sculpture.

Then our final stop was the OZ Winery for a test taste.

Goodbye Aunt Ann.  We love you!

After having a rough day, it was nice to get my mind of things for two hours. Thanks Kelly!!

Breakout KC (an Escape Game)

Today we ESCAPED out of a room at the Breakout KC game. You have 60 minutes to escape a room and our room was the Casino Room.  They give you clues and you have to figure out how to escape the room.  When the door opened we were jumping up and down and screaming (maybe that was just us girls). It was fun and stressful all of the same time.  Our room had a 38% success rate so we were pretty proud.

Afterwards, we celebrated at the Blue Line Hockey Bar. (Kansas City's only hockey bar)

The food was delicious and we were able to watch some of the Royal's game.

Had a great time today with friends!!

Artsy Fartsy Night

Katie has named our once month outing "Artsy Fartsy Night".  I am not creative or Artsy Fartsy but I still have fun trying to be.

My glass fusing project this time was a night light.  I can't blog about what I made last time because it is for my Mom's birthday. Hope she likes it!!!

I am actually enjoying our Artsy Fartsy nights because it is getting me to do something I am not good at and have patience with it.  Thanks Katie for another fun evening.

Iowa State Fair and Def Leppard Concert

When we got to Des Moines we made a stop at Zombie Burger for lunch.  It was pretty yummy!

Then we saw this store and walked down the block to see if the name was true.  It was cool but maybe not the greatest:)

Yep, there was a piano outside on the street so the boys had to play it.

We spent the whole afternoon at the Iowa State Fair.  Look at all the people!!

We had to try some fair food so we tried a fried twinkie and fried OREO cookies.

Getting ready to go to the grandstand to see Tesla, Styx and Def Leppard.

I never imagined I would be at a Def Leppard concert with my children.

We did not have good seats at all but I still loved seeing Def Leppard AGAIN!!

Cass informed us that she never wants to go to another fair again.  It is important for everyone to have a fair experience at least once.

First Day of Freshman Year

I can't believe our baby is a freshman in high school. He even said he had a good first day and the hamburgers were great.

Dylan's back to school shoes....I never imagined that I would ever purchase boat shoes for Dylan.

Happy first day of school!!

Birthday Fun

This morning started off by Dylan blowing confetti and singing Happy Birthday to me at 7am. He hung the sign up after I went to bed last night.

He even cleaned up the confetti for me.

My mom and dad came up to visit and took me to Stroud's for my birthday dinner since Michael is out of town.

My kiddos bought me a new Pitt State shirt and Michael ordered me this awesome Pitt State Gorillas bottle of wine.

The Pitt State emblem is engraved in the wine bottle.  It looks so cool!!

Thanks to all my friends and family for making my day special!

La Jolla Cove in San Diego

We spent the day at La Jolla shores and cove. It was their first visit to the Pacific Ocean.

La Jolla shores

Dylan had to leave a piece of KC at La Jolla.

Michael and Dylan went snorkeling with leopard sharks.

A sign you don't see in Kansas!

La Jolla Cove....it was gorgeous.

There were sea lions every where.

I can handle 74 degrees and sunny and a beautiful view.

YUMMY!! I wish I would have thought of this.

They were sooooooo good!

Dylan loves ice cream sandwiches so he was a happy boy.

It was a short weekend in San Diego but I am so glad we had the chance to spend some time in California together.

San Diego Zoo and a Sailboat Ride off of Coronado Island

Michael has been working in California so the kids and I met him in San Diego for a fun weekend. We enjoyed a day at the zoo.

We actually took a Discovery Tour of the San Diego Zoo so we were out of there in four hours. It was a great tour!!

Of course I had to take a picture of my favorite animal....the gorilla.

Her foot was so huge!!

Cass and her favorite animal.

We really loved seeing the panda bears since not many zoos have them.

Here is Dylan and Michael looking up the skirt of the nurse at the "Unconditional Surrender Statue".

USS Midway

Saturday evening we drove to Coronado Island and went for a sailboat ride on Uncle Ralph's boat.

Bridge from San Diego to Coronado Island

There goes the sail!

Uncle Ralph teaching Dylan how to sail.

A nice view of San Diego

Michael taking control of the sailboat.

Enjoying the sunset from the sailboat

Dylan wanted to cuddle since he was freezing.

An absolutely beautiful evening!!
