Oscar Party 2011

My Oscar Party was a little different this year because I missed the first 30 minutes of it because of Dylan's championship basketball game. My friends made themselves comfortable and started the fun without me. We also had a little thunderstorm during the party which I absolutely loved!!! Several of us wore our pajamas so we could be nice and comfy!!

We had a lot of delicious food and a yummy clementine beverage!!

Basketball Champions!!

I grew up in a family that loved basketball! My dad coached high school basketball for 30 years and I went to many games as a child yelling and screaming because I wanted his team to win. I was also a high school cheerleader who cheered at many games wanting my team to win. Now I am a mom and cheering for my son to win a championship game is a whole different feeling. I honestly thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. At halftime they were tied and with 26 seconds left of the game we were ahead by one and the other team had the ball but a lot can happen in 26 seconds even for fourth graders. We ended up winning the championship game by 6. I really tried not to cry but when I looked at Dylan with tears rolling down his face I could not help it.

What a great way to end the season!!!!

Murder Mystery Party

Cass was invited to a Murder Mystery Party and she was suppose to dress up as an extremely wealthy woman. She is wearing a huge diamond ring and is carrying a diamond purse with fake money. I put lots of makeup on her and she said "Daddy is not going to like this at all!" and I told her that if she ever walked out of the house to go to school looking like this she would be in serious trouble. Cass had lots of fun and did not go to bed until 4am.

She took a 2 1/2 nap this afternoon and when we told her it was time to get up she just slid out of the recliner.
Cass has her birthday slumber party Friday so we will see if she looks like this on Saturday!

Wow! What a fun weekend!!!

I took Dylan to Kansas Sampler on Friday night to meet Mario Chalmers (former KU player and now plays for the Miami Heat) and his mom. Dylan took his basketball to be signed and he was so excited. He told Mario that he wants to play for KU and then play in the NBA when he grows up and Mario told him to keep working hard.

Our monthly date with Ann and Ricky was on Saturday and we went to SWAGGER. It was featured on DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES. We ordered three different sandwiches and then we shared with each other. We tried the DEAD TEXAN (hamburger with an egg and two grilled cheese sandwiches as the buns). This was my favorite!!!
This is the SURIBACHI HAMBURGER (grilled hamburger battered and deep fat fried). This was my second favorite.

Then we tried the WALDO TRUCKER (pulled pork sandwich with wasabi coleslaw).

Ricky took this lovely picture of Ann and I while Michael was pumping the brakes and trying to mess up the picture.

Later that afternoon Dylan had the best game of his life. He made 15 points out of the 36 points. My proud mom moment was when I heard someone from the other side yell "Stop that #12" and that #12 was my son. Dylan played almost the entire game but his coach pulled him out for the last 30 seconds of the game.

Today my friend Sheila met us at the movies and we saw GNOMEO AND JULIET. It actually was not that bad of a movie.

Surprise! Surprise! I am posting something I have baked and they were VERY good!
Short week this week! We have tomorrow off for Presidents Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

I was in charge of bringing something sweet to Dylan's school party today so I made chocolate dipped Oreos with M & M's on top. The kids really enjoyed them. (Thanks Grandma for the idea)

I made "Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes" for all of my friends at work. They have cookie dough (without eggs) in the center with a cookie dough frosting. They are my new favorite cupcakes.

Michael does NOT believe in Valentine's Day but on Saturday night I walked in to find this sitting by my chair waiting for me. I was very excited and SHOCKED!

Cass enjoying her box of chocolates and her new KU comfy pants.

Dylan liked his box of chocolates and his new 25 collectible erasers.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

Mother/Daughter Day

Cass did not have school today and I took the day off from work so we could have a girls day. We started our day off with Starbucks. (Shocking, isn't??)

Cass with her peppermint hot chocolate and pumpkin bread.

Then we had some pampering at Nevaeh Salon with a mini makeover and haircut and style.

We each got 3 inches cut off !!

I love my baby girl!!
This afternoon we went to the movies and then picked Dylan up from school. He does not have school on April 1 and Cass does so Dylan and I will have Mother/Son day.

What Do You Do with Seven Ripe Bananas?

You make "Nutella Banana Bread" and "Banana Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Frosting".

The banana bread was my favorite. Cass and Dylan did not vote because they refused to try them!

Super Bowl 2011

We had our annual Super Bowl party with our friends Chris and Kelly. They have been coming to our house every year for the last 6 years. This year we had a nacho bar, chocolate chip cookie dough brownies and Kelly made her famous Puppy Chow cookies.

We had lots of fun and we will continue our little tradition of spending Super Bowl together.

Snow Day #6

We have had six snow days so far this year and winter is not even close to being over. My friends Sheila, Stacey, Ann with her nephew Jackson, Vicki with her daughter Hannah, and Jennifer with her daughters Karsen and Owynne met us at Power Play. We had lots of fun bowling and it was nice to get out of the house since this was our third snow day in a row.
