Day after the Oscar Party

I always take the day off after the Oscar Party so I started my day off by getting a 90 minute massage at Starz Spa!

I ended my day by going to Dylan's basketball party at Old Shawnee Pizza.  Here is my little #52 getting his second place medal and trophy from his coaches.

Why does a day off go by so fast???

Even though I am not always happy with the outcome of the Oscars I still have a lot of fun.  Looking forward to next years movies.

Friends

Today I was able to meet my friend Melissa for lunch today at Noodles and Company. I worked with Melissa at Oddfellows Daycare in Lincoln, IL about 17 years ago. We had not seen each other for 12 years (which is ridiculous) so it was nice to spend a little time together.  We will NOT go another 12 years again!! Thanks Melissa for making the time to meet me for lunch before going back to Illinois.

Happy Friday

I had a good little laugh when I opened up the refrigerator and saw this note on the orange juice.

I took the kids for an afternoon snack when they got home from school today.  We had cupcakes at Icing Cupcakery and it was the richest cupcake I have ever had in my entire life.  Usually when I hear people say that something is so rich that they can not  finish the item I just roll my eyes at them.  Well, it happened to me today for the first time.  The chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake was delicious and rich and I could not finish it.

Actually none of us could eat a whole cupcake so we brought the rest home with us.

I would also like to wish Happy Birthday to OREO!  WOW, 100 years old!

I am so thankful that I am off Monday so I am going to enjoy my three day weekend!!

Day Off

I love having the day off and getting out of bed at 8:30am and going straight to Starbucks.  It was a cool rainy day so I took Cass and Dylan to the movies.  We saw Journey 2 in 3D and we really liked it.

We also discovered a new Snickers bar called 3X chocolate at CVS and we had to buy it!

I made homemade vegetable beef soup for dinner and then I made Reese's Pieces cupcakes
Now I need to get ready for an 8:45pm basketball game.  Thank goodness it is our last late game of the season.

A Day with Flat Mikayla

This morning I got up and fixed scrambled eggs and creme brulee french toast before my mom and dad had to drive back home.

Then we spent the whole day with my niece Flat Mikayla.  Mikayla got flattened at school and then was mailed to Kansas City for some fun adventures.  Here she is ready for some fun!!

We drove her by the Kansas Speedway.

She really enjoyed the Kansas City skyline.

Me and Mikayla at Arrowhead Stadium.  Go Chiefs!!

We needed a lunch break so we ate some bbq at Arthur Bryant's and it was delicious.

The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum was our next stop!

Love the silver tree

Flat Mikayla and Dylan loved seeing a real mummy at the museum.

Then off to a great winning game by the Raptors!! Next weekend they will be playing in the championship game.  Go Raptors!!
What an exhausting day with Flat Mikayla!  Now I will mail her back to Oklahoma with pictures and goodies from Kansas City.

First Dance with a Date

Tonight was a big night for Cass (well for me and Michael also).  Cass asked a boy to the WPA dance and he said YES!  Cass and I drove to his house and here is Cass trying to put his boutonniere on.

David gave Cass a beautiful corsage.

David and Cass

How can this be my baby girl??

David acting thrilled to be at our house!

I am sure Cass is saying "no more pictures".
We have to go pick them up at 11:00pm and take David home.  That is way past my bedtime so I might  have to go to Walmart to go shopping just to stay awake.

Three Day Weekend

Quinton's Bar and Deli has delicious chicken salad sandwiches but do not ask Michael how the service was.  Sometimes it is not fun having a waitress on her first night.  Michael ordered soup without bacon and a sandwich with mayo on the side.  Do you think he got that??? NO  It is not funny but if anything is going to go wrong with someones meal it will ALWAYS be his meal!  Sorry honey!  We still enjoyed spending time with our friends Ann and Ricky.

Ann and I after eating our wonderful chicken salad sandwiches!

I wanted to add this recipe I made this week that was really good.  It was called chicken lazone.
Busy weekend with Cass going to her first dance with a boy!! YIKES!!  Dylan playing in a basketball tournament and Grandpa and Grandma visiting for the weekend. Thank goodness it is a three day weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day (which Michael says is a made up holiday) is usually pretty uneventful.  I did bring something sweet for all my friends at work today.  It was a red velvet cheese ball with animal crackers.

I went to Dylan's party at school and it was pretty calm.

Cass and Dylan opened their gifts and they were very excited about their freezer mugs.

I made a nice dinner that Cass and I enjoyed together because Dylan had basketball practice.  I made pork diablo and cheesy green chili rice.
Happy Valentine's Day!!

A Very Busy Day!

This morning Cass made us homemade buttermilk biscuits

Michael and I made egg sandwiches out of them. The biscuits were delicious!!

I decided to work on Dylan's treats for his Valentine's Day Party and I am so glad that I did not wait until tomorrow night to make them.  It took me about two hours!  I made Valentine twinkies.

I dipped them in almond bark and then decorated them.

My kitchen was a total disaster area.

Finished product!

I also made Reeses's Krispies today.

Dylan got his new bed this morning.  Wow, a full size bed!

Michael finished his nightstand/dresser.

Cass got sparkly curtains for her closet.

Now I am going to go sit in my chair and enjoy the nice warm fire.
