Family trip to Texas for Thanksgiving

We spend Thanksgiving with my parents every other year and this year we decided to take a little trip to Texas. Our first stop was in Norman, OK (that is where my sister and her family live) and had a nice little visit. Frankie had made a yummy chocolate cake and I think we had eaten half of it before we had gone to bed.

Don't leave Grandma!! Please stay!!

We woke up early Wednesday and headed for Texas. Of course we had to stop at Starbucks before we left Norman.

We made it!!!!

We ate at Twisted Root for lunch. I had a delicious buffalo burger and onion rings.

Before we checked into our hotel we stopped by where they filmed the tv show DALLAS. The kids had never heard of the show but the rest of us had so we toured the house. They actually only filmed the outside and then filmed all of the inside scenes in California.

We checked into the hotel in Grapevine, TX. and then Michael took us to eat dinner at a place called Bone Daddy's. Look at the pictures and you will know why Michael took us there.

Light poles inside

Cass and I split Beer Can Chicken

Dad and Dylan begged to get there picture taken with our waitress. Now do you know why Michael took us to Bone Daddy's????

Happy Thanksgiving!! We ate at the buffet at the Great Wolf Lodge. Michael has a friend that lives a few miles away so Steve and his family ate with us.

Thanksgiving night we went to the Gaylord Hotel and walked around and saw ICE. This year they did the story HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS in ice. Almost everything you see in the pictures are ice sculptures.

Before we walked in to go see ICE, Michael met a friend.

Remember that what you see is ice. They gave us a Parka to wear because it was 9 degrees.

That is me going down the ice slide!

At the end they had a manger scene out of ice.

On Friday, we went to Six Flags over Texas.

On our way home we stopped at IKEA. We could not buy anything because we did not have any room. We had 6 people and luggage in our Tahoe.

We had lots of fun, the weather was perfect and now the kids can say that they have been to Texas. Thanks mom and dad for going with us! Where are we going next?????

Basketball, Food and Fun!

Dylan played in his first basketball game Friday night. They lost 7-20 but they did not let the other team score at all during the last quarter. (trying to be positive)

Good rebound!!!

Dylan was having fun playing defense.

Saturday morning Michael woke us up and told us to get dressed because we were going to go get donuts at the only Dunkin' Donuts in Kansas City. Michael LOVES Dunkin' Donuts so he was very happy when he found out they were opening one up here. We had to stand in line but it went fast.

Then for lunch, Cass made us BBQ Chicken Pizza. Wow, she made it all by herself and we did not have to help her at all.

Saturday night we took the kids to Fritz's. They just opened one up by our house. The food is not the best but it is fun to have a train deliver your food.

Today I made Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles. The recipe called for walnuts but I added 1/4 cup more chocolate chips and left out the walnuts. They are really delicious. I could not get the link to work but if you want the recipe it is on the Taste of Home website. (look for cookie dough truffles)

Since we will be out of town for Thanksgiving I wanted the Christmas tree up and some of the decorations out. We watched CHRISTMAS VACATION and I drank a Starbucks while we were getting the Christmas decorations out. Now I do not have to worry about it when we get home from our Thanksgiving trip.
