The Weekend comes to an End!!

This weekend flew by! Cass spent the night with a friend, our friends Jennifer,Chris and Karsen stopped by, Michael worked on the kitchen floor, I did laundry and packed for my trip to Salina. Tomorrow I leave for Salina and will be back Thursday night. I am going to another training and I am hoping to find some fun stuff to do in Salina while I am there. I am looking forward to Friday because my parents and sister and her family are coming for Labor Day Weekend.

Dylan also worked on another roller coaster. He builds roller coasters out of his K-nex toys without any directions. He finds pictures on the internet and then goes upstairs and starts building.

I was putting Dylan to bed and he asked me to take a picture of him and his favorite dog Snuffles.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Water Coaster

Dylan loves roller coasters so he made a water coaster in his bedroom. He was well prepared with the towel under the coaster. I do not know how long he had been playing but the towel was soaked!!! Glad he can entertain himself.

Happy Birthday Mom! I hope you have a great day and I wish we could be together to celebrate. Thanks for being the best mom in the world!

I would also like to wish my niece Yasmine a very happy birthday. I hope you have a great day and I hope you have fun at your party.

I would like to remind everyone that this is August and it has felt like October the last few days. It has been wonderful! We have the house opened up and have been enjoying the cool breeze. When I came downstairs this morning Cass said she was freezing and this is what we saw!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????

Dylan only had a half day of school so Michael picked him up at 12:30. When I got home at 3:30 this is what Dylan had on. I asked him if he wore that outfit to school and he said "Yes, and the Principal loved it." Does anyone else have an issue with this outfit or is it just me?

Cass had her first day of going to all of her classes. She was only late to one class and that was because she was having trouble opening up her locker. Well , actually she was trying to open the locker next to hers.

First Day of School 2009

Summer vacation is over!! Cass and Dylan had their first day of school today. Cass said she had fun and when I asked Dylan how school was he said "It was AWESOME!" I also asked him if his teacher was nice and he said, "Of course she was, all teachers are nice on the first day! Just give her a few weeks."

Ice Cream Social

Tonight we went to the ice cream social at Benninghoven. Dylan was able to meet his teacher and put his school supplies in his desk. Dylan thought his teacher was really nice (probably because she gave him candy) and now I think he is more excited about third grade. I can not believe the first day of school is Monday.

The dishwasher is installed and working but still no kitchen floor.

My Birthday with Family and Friends

I had a great day!! I walked into my office and had gifts and my favorite mint brownies sitting on my desk. I had to give a training today so to make it more fun we had a potluck for lunch. Thanks to all my friends for the wonderful goodies and gifts. Wine, movie gift card, Starbucks Card, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Cinnamon Swirl and Hazelnut Creme coffee and my favorite mint brownies and spinach dip(my friend Katie is required to make this dip for me several times a year because I absolutely love it) were some of my birthday surprises.

Office buddies

This is just one of the tables. The dessert table was loaded with treats also.

My friend Sheila made me my brownies. For the last 4 years Sheila gives me a card that says Happy 34th. She said that I will always be 34 in her eyes. Thanks Sheila!!!!!!!!

My friend Mary gave me one of my favorite bottles of wine. I can not wait till the weekend to sit on the deck and drink it.
When I got home, I had a gift waiting for me. Michael and the kids bought me a new food processor. My old one had a big crack in it and every time I used it food would shoot out of the crack. It was very irritating. Then they had a sweet surprise for me. Michael drove to Olathe and bought me "Birthday Remix" ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery. Cass gave him the idea! Thanks Cass!

Since Dylan had football practice at six, we did not have time to go out to dinner so I stopped and picked up a pizza from Old Shawnee Pizza. Now I am going to relax and enjoy the rest of my evening.

Family Fun in Wichita

This weekend we drove to Wichita to spend the weekend with Uncle Robert and Aunt Janice. Uncle Robert is just like a big kid so he had lots of fun toys. The kids loved the Indiana Jones pinball machine, the scooter and they also played the Wii.

My favorite part of the trip was when we took Cass to Wesley Medical Center and took her to the neonatal unit where she lived for 10 1/2 weeks. I knew it would be emotional but I had no idea that I would actually cry. I do not mean just have tears in my eyes but I cried and the nurses had to give me Kleenex. They let us walk all the way in and look at a baby that was born at 26 weeks and a baby that was born at 30 weeks. Looking at the tiny babies all hooked up with wires brought back a lot of memories. I even saw some tears in Michael's eyes but he was much stronger than I was. We were so lucky that the doctor that took care of Cass was working that day so we took a picture of him and Cass. The first picture is the day Dr. Dorn said Cass could come home and the second one was Saturday. We also had Cass sit in a rocking chair that the neonatal unit purchased with memorial money from my grandparents.

When we got home from the hospital Cass and Uncle Robert decided to make Ranger cookies.

Later that afternoon, Great Granny, Aunt Marlene (from Louisiana) and her family stopped by and we had a cookout. Michael grilled steaks and of course they were delicious.

Here is a picture of Michael and his cousin Will. Will is 22 years old and this was the first time they had ever met.

After the cookout, Uncle Robert took the kids swimming at 8:45 at night. They thought that was pretty cool.

The kids relaxing after a dip in the pool.

This morning Grandpa and Grandma drove an hour to come eat breakfast with us. We ate at Jimmy's Egg. My egg sandwich was very good. It was nice to see them even though it was for a short time. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for driving all that way to see us for an hour.

On the way home, we stopped at Nebraska Furniture Mart and bought a new dishwasher. Our old one was leaking all over the floor. Well, when Michael removed the old dishwasher there was mold everywhere. Guess who will be getting a new kitchen floor now!!!!!!!

I will keep you updated on this HUGE project!!!!!!!!!

Date Night with my Husband

Last night Michael and I had a date night and we had so much fun. We started the evening off by going over to Brad and Dana's house. They made lasagna, bread sticks and salad. Brad made two different kinds of lasagna, one with spinach and one without and they were both very good. Then we went to Zona Rosa to the Improv. We saw two comedians and then Dan Horn a ventriloquist. I have not laughed that much in a long time. I also tried a new drink that I loved and it was called the Rubber Chicken. When we got home we walked into a dark room and saw Aunt Ann, Cass and Dylan all cuddled up watching a movie.

Today, I took Cass and Dylan to buy their "first day of school" outfit. Later on this afternoon, Michael and Dylan went to Worlds of Fun to ride the new ride called the "Prowler". Cass and I went shoe shopping instead. Cass ended up with one pair of shoes, Capri pants, shorts and one shirt. She has nothing that fits so I thought she should have something to start the school year off.

Back from Michigan

We went to a great training in Ypsilanti, Michigan on High Scope Curriculum. We went to the training from 8:30 -3:30 everyday and then we took some time to explore Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Michigan (this is where our hotel was and where we spent most of our time). They were very unique places and we enjoyed them both and we only got lost a few times. Right Katie????
We also decided to go to Hell. Don't worry, I mean Hell, Michigan. We also ate some very good food. Here is a list of the restaurants.

1. Aubree Pizza
2. Ashley's Pub
3. Original Cottage Inn Pizza (Best Pizza)
4. Stucchis Ice Cream (Best Ice Cream Ever)
5. Side Track Bar and Grill (Oprah's friend Gayle likes the hamburgers here)
6. Cupcake Station
7. Arbor Brewing Company
8. Grizzly Peak Brewing Company

This is the water tower in Ypsilanti. It caught our eye because we had no idea what it was at first.

We each got a different flavor of cupcake and then we shared. The lemon cupcake was absolutely delicious.

We had to visit Stucchi's ice cream 3 times because it was the best ice cream. We enjoyed the flavor called TEXAS TEA. It was chocolate ice cream with chunks of fudge in it.

Ypsilanti 's Depot Town

This is where the headquarters for the High Scope Curriculum is located. They gave us a tour and little history of the home. It was built in 1903 as a 33 room, single-family dwelling.

Here we are in HELL!!!!!!!!!!
