Last Weekend of January!

I am so glad January is almost over because it is not my favorite month. Saturday Michael and I went to the movies with Ann and Ricky. We saw "127 Hours" and I have officially seen all 10 Oscar nominated movies for 2011. Ann was not real excited about seeing this movie but she survived and I only saw her gag once. Here is Ann right after the movie and as you can see she was a little stressed!!

Today we had fun at the RV Show! Dylan said that when he goes to college he is going to buy an RV so he can still go camping with us!! He can not decide if he wants to buy this trailer or.....

this one!!!!

We also went to a reptile show and guess who volunteered!! He had no idea what he was in for.

"Help, it is wrapping around my neck now."

Dylan also had a basketball game this afternoon that did not go so well!

Dylan was very happy that Aunt Ann came to his game.

We Love Cookies!!!

I made Carrot Cake Sandwich Cookies today for my friend Katie. She sent me a text last week and it said, "want to make these cookies" and she also sent me the link for the recipe. I responded and said "do you want to make these cookies or do you want ME to make them?" I knew who was going to end up making them!!! (the recipe called for walnuts and raisins but I did not put them in)

This evening Dylan made Brown Sugar Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

We had a family vote and the Brown Sugar Chocolate Chunk Cookies won. Scrumptious!!!

Another Fun Night with Ann and Ricky

We had our monthly outing with our friends Ann and Ricky and there is never a dull moment when we are together. We went to Cupini's and it is a wonderful place to eat.

Michael and Ricky excited about their cannoli . (They are actually making fun of how Ann and I get so excited about dessert)

Ann and Ricky were telling us about the New York Dawg Pound and how great the hot dogs were so after we had a yummy dinner and dessert the guys decided they wanted to try a hot dog. They are definitely CRAZY!! Michael really liked his hot dog because it had pickles, BBQ sauce and onion straws. Ann and I did not participate in the craziness!!!!
What crazy things will go on next month when we go out????

Snow Day Again!

I can not believe that we have had 3 snow days this year. I love snow days!! Dylan was productive and built a fort upstairs.

Cass had her two favorite things in her hands the whole day. ( iPod and cell phone)

A Fun Day Off!

Cass made us healthy Strawberry Lemon Smoothies and we all enjoyed them.

This afternoon my friends Mary and Stacey met me at Cinemark and we saw "Black Swan". It was a very intense movie but I liked it.
Back to work tomorrow! Thank goodness it is only a 4 day work week.

Another Weekend Flew By

Saturday morning we went to the Kansas City Boat and Sports Show to see a celebrity. You will never guess who it was so I will tell you! We saw Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel!!!

This was the crowd so we pushed Dylan up to the front so he could see. He read about Twiggy at school so he was excited to see him.

Cass and I stood on a boat so we could see over all of the people.

Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel

There was also a trout pond and Dylan tried to catch one but was not successful.

That night Dylan spent the night with a friend and Cass wanted to go to Shogun Japanese Steakhouse. Here is Cass and Michael getting ready for some fun and food.

Today Dylan had a basketball game and I actually took this picture when Dylan took the ball away. I love his expression on his face.

Cass took this picture tonight so I thought I would post it.
Tomorrow the kids and I have the day off so I am thinking it will be just a lazy day!

Fruit and Veggie Day at Work

Today we had fruit and veggie day at work and we were suppose to bring a dish with a fruit or vegetable in it. Sounds healthy doesn't it???? Wrong! I made Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting and they were so good. There were actual strawberries in the cake and in the frosting so I followed the rules! :)

Snow Day #2

Look honey! I shoveled the whole driveway! (my half yesterday and yours today) Michael is out of town and I wanted to post this picture to prove I did something productive on my days off.

I also made Vanilla Buttermilk Cupcakes with my yummy homemade frosting. I love the cupcake liners my mom bought for me. I had to frost the cupcakes blue to match them.

Cass and Dylan put sprinkles on their cupcakes.
It was nice to have a four day weekend!! Back to reality tomorrow!

Snow Day!

I love snow days! We stayed in our pajamas all day long and we were very lazy. I did eventually shovel snow for 35 minutes but the rest of the time I sat in my comfy chair.

Dylan watching it snow and deciding on when he was going to go play in it.

Are you eating the snow???

I made Andes Mint Brownies (brownie mix and Andes mint chips) with frosting (powdered sugar frosting with mint extract and green food coloring) last night so I could take treats to work. I did not need to have these in the house today because they are one of my favorite brownies and no I did not eat half the pan by myself.

Dylan Got a Nice Surprise!

Dylan had no idea that Grandma and Grandpa were coming up for the weekend to watch his basketball game. He also did not know that Grandpa A and Marge were coming to the game. He was pretty proud to have seven people cheering him on. Grandpa Burdett was talking to the coach after the game so he did not get in this picture.

Here is Dylan and Grandpa spending some time together!

Saturday morning everyone was being lazy and we were all playing games on either our iPads, phones, or iPods. Cass is not in this picture because she was in the other room playing on the computer.
The weekend flew by once again but we had a lot of fun.

NO COMPUTER

That is not how a blogger wants to start the new year so now (only a day late) I want to a wish everyone a Happy New Year. This year for New Years Eve Cass and Dylan each invited a friend to spend the night and we all made it to midnight. (actually there was no question that the kids wouldn't make it to midnight) Before their friends came over we needed to make some yummy snacks.

Michael and Cass made guacamole

Cass and I made a snowman cookie cake and I also made puppy chow. We had a delicious nacho bar with lots of toppings.

Cass and Dylan with their friends

Tonight we made our own pizzas and they were very good. Here is Dylan with his "sauce only" pizza.

I am so happy to be blogging again. I know it has only been a few days but it was driving me crazy. Happy New Year!!!
