Jayhawk Fever

Holy Cow!!!!!  The KU Jayhawks have given me heartburn the last few games.  We are going to the championship!! Chris and Kelly came over again for the KU game and it was a wild and crazy night.

Kelly and I enjoying grown-up pink lemonade!

Cass enjoying the toasted ravioli I made.  I will definitely be making those again!

Cass grilled us hamburgers, Kelly made mac & cheese and I made brownie mosaic cheesecake.  What an exciting game! We are so ready for the big game on Monday!

Mother/Son Day

Dylan did not have school today so I took the day off so we could spend some time together. We got in the car and drove to Union Station so we could go to Science City and I pulled into the parking garage and I remembered that I left my wallet in the kitchen. Well, I cried (yes, me not Dylan) all the way back home.  I wanted to have a fun and special day with him and when he told me it was fine and that everyone makes mistakes I lost it!!  After I picked up my wallet we went to Toys R Us and I bought him a mini pool table.

We also walked around the mall and got pretzel bites and I also bought him a Celtics pennant.  Later in the afternoon we went to Sonic to get a happy hour drink.  When we got home he told me it was the best day ever.  By the way, he was done with me by 12:45 because he wanted to play with his friend Blake.  Oh how I love my son!!!

Tonight I made slow cooker BBQ ranch country style ribs and chive and cheese bread (without nuts).
Great day with my boy!!!

Hunger Games

Tonight was movie club and we saw "Hunger Games".  I actually read the book before going to the movie and I must admit that was a first for me.

Cass is not in the first picture because she had to go get a free refill of popcorn to take home to her brother.
I guess I will read the second book now!   I know all my friends are laughing at me or in a state of shock after that statement.

Eat, Drink and Final Four Baby!

We enjoyed our nice dinner Saturday night made by Cass. She made cougar hamburgers (which was Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, liquid smoke, shredded cheese and ground beef) with a special sauce.  They were awesome!!

Today Cass helped me make chocolate peanut butter cup whoopie pies.  Stop eating the peanut butter cups.

You really need to share with a friend because they are so rich!!  I also made praline brownies for work tomorrow.

Our friends Chris and Kelly came over for the exciting KU game.  We had smoked turkey and Kelly made cheesy potatoes.  Here we are drinking a new recipe for frozen margaritas.  YUMMY!

Go KU!!

TGIF

Wednesday night we helped support the Benninghoven PTA by eating at Mr. Goodcents. The PTA pays for all of the field trips so we don't mind going out to dinner to help out a good cause.

My friends Ann and Sherie enjoying the treats I made today!  I made Rolo Fudge Brownies and they were pretty rich!

Tonight was date night with Ann and Ricky and we went to the Blue Moose Bar and Grill.  Can you tell the moose is actually blue??

Our after dinner picture!

Ricky is always so patient while we have our photo shoot on date night even when he has to hold the leftovers.  Thanks Ricky!!

So glad it is Friday!!

Spring Break Recipes

I have several recipes that I made during spring break that I would like to share.  Cass made red lobster cheddar biscuits that were delicious.

Hot fudge cream cheese bars (bringing to work tomorrow)

I also made chicken hashbrown bake (Dylan loved it), cottage cheese meatloaf (sounds disgusting but very good), and margarita slushes (which I am enjoying right now but added ice to the recipe).  Enjoy the recipes!!

St. Patrick's Day

This is how the Arnott family celebrated St. Patrick's Day.

Free fries from Burger King with green ketchup and Shamrock shakes

Tonight Cass and I made roasted red pepper dip for an appetizer that was very good.

I made jalapeno popper stuffed hamburgers and Michael grilled them. For anyone who clicks on this recipe we used ground beef NOT ground turkey.  Michael also made homemade sweet potato fries.  We stuffed ourselves!!!

Michael and I will be finishing our St. Patrick's Day celebration tonight with this.....
Happy St. Patrick's Day

Spring Break is Going Way Too Fast

Aunt Ann had to have surgery on her wrist last week so we stopped by to check on her today.  We brought her flowers, gluten free brownies with peanut butter cups and salsa verde chicken.

Then I came home and made volcano cookies.  They were very rich but scrumptious.

Ice cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkles on top of the volcano cookies for an afternoon snack.

Later I walked outside to see Michael holding the boards for the deck and Dylan using the nail gun.  He was loving every minute of it.

We had a meal tonight that the whole family enjoyed.  It was called jalapeno kettle chip crusted chicken with a jalapeno ranch dip.  YUMMO!
Now off to get comfy and ready to watch KU play at 9pm.  Why does spring break have to go by so fast??

Can I Retire?

I love all the freedom I have this week and I love not going to work.  Today Michael took me to Kona Grill for lunch and they had the big windows open and it was so nice.

Then he took me to Pryde's so I could buy a new 8-inch pan.  Pryde's is a kitchen and accessories store and it is so big and really cool.

Thank you honey!!

On our way home my father-in-law called and asked us to go to dinner.  No cooking for me today!  We met at Frontera's for outstanding mexican food.

Cass, Grandpa and Dylan

Michael, Marge and Dylan
Well, I know that I can not retire!  I would not be able to go out to lunch or buy an 8-inch pan or help two kids through college in a few years but someday maybe my dream will come true.

Another Beautiful Spring Day

What a beautiful day! The four of us went to Antioch Park for a picnic.

Dylan and Cass

Please do not fall in!

King of the World

Then for dinner I made easy cashew chicken.  I like easy and delicious.

The UPS guy brought Cass and I our iPhones.  We were so excited!!
What a great day!

I Love Spring Break

Today I cleaned the living room and family room and even cleaned a ceiling fan. I know that to some of you this is no big deal but I HATE cleaning (especially a ceiling fan).  Since I was a little productive today I decided to relax with my wonderful friend Sheila tonight.  I made oven tacos, homemade salsa  and a drink called "girls night in".  It was pretty yummy!

Sheila and I sitting in the backyard enjoying our drinks.

We are not sitting on the deck because this is what the deck looks like now.

So we sat in the yard watching Michael build our deck!!  Was that kind of mean that we were having a nice relaxing evening and Michael was working????

While Sheila and I were having fun watching Michael, Dylan was in a tree watching us.
It really felt like we were on vacation until the bats started flying around the backyard and Sheila started yelling!

Tent Camping in the Backyard

Last night Dylan and his friends Peyton and Calvin slept in a tent in our backyard.

Putting the tent up!

Peyton and Dylan made homemade pizza for dinner before Calvin came over.

They had games and a cooler full of snacks and pop in the tent with them.  Michael did not think they would stay in the tent the whole night but they did and we had to go wake them up around 10:00am.

They came in and ate cinnamon rolls and they were very tired.  Glad everyone had fun camping out.
