Day before vacation

This morning I took Dylan and his grade card to get free donuts for his good grades.

Then this afternoon daddy got to drink a beer and watch Dylan mow the lawn for the first time.

A Weekend Without Basketball

We almost did not know what to do with ourselves having a weekend without any basketball games.  On Saturday we took a road trip to Knob Noster, MO so we could go to Whiteman Air Force Base to the air show.

Saturday night Cass made us cheeseburger bacon puffs for dinner.

Then I enjoyed a nice evening on the deck finalizing our vacation plans and drinking a frozen coconut rum limeade.

This morning I made Nutella rolls with cream cheese frosting.

We had a lunch date with Ann and Ricky today at Papa Bobs BBQ.  This is a picture of the ultimate destroyer which was on the T.V. show Man VS. Food.  We did not try it!!!

Michael made the bottle of bbq sauce explode all over the table and Ricky.  Ann and I got a good laugh out of it.  Sorry Ricky!!

I would not drive back to Bonner Springs to eat there but we still had fun.

I ate my first tomato of the season off my tomato plant today!

Grandpa and Marge wanted to take us out to dinner at Cheddars tonight and we were not going to turn that down!

Cass got her favorite meal: bacon cheeseburger with Texas fries. (NO, she did not eat it all)

Well, we can keep ourselves busy with basketball games.  Vacation is just around the corner and the countdown is on!

Lunch Surprise and Movie Club

Today I had the day off so I surprised Dylan and brought Mr. Goodcents sandwiches to school for lunch.  Dylan was very excited when he walked around the corner and saw me standing by the door.  I loved surprising him.

After our not-so-peaceful lunch.  Fifth grade boys are a little loud!!

Tonight was movie club and we saw "Dark Shadows" and it was quite entertaining.  Cass went with us but she took the picture.  Thanks Cass!

It was a great day off!!!

I Love Being a Mom

I love being a mom even when I have to get up at 6am for some basketball games on Mother's Day.  Dylan had two basketball games this morning and they won only one of them.

After the games we went to the movies and saw "The Avengers" and Michael and I loved it.  Dylan slept through some of it and Cass said it was boring.  When we got home I opened some presents.

Dylan made me a beautiful pen holder and flower.  I also got an oil spray pump and new shoes.

For dinner Michael grilled filet mignon and we had twice baked potatoes.  Now it is time to drink a glass of wine and do NOTHING!  Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful mom and sister.  

BBQ Competition

This weekend we entered a BBQ competition at Basswood Resorts in Platte City, MO. We invited Mike and Jenni to be on our team this year instead of doing it by ourselves.

Our dessert was caramel cheesecake in mason jars.  We got 8th place and three of the six judges gave it a perfect score.  Our total was 177 points with the winner getting 180.  Not bad!

After everything was turned in it started to rain a little but it only lasted about 30 minutes.

School Carnival

Yesterday Dylan and I went to the school carnival. I forgot to put sunscreen on so I got a little sunburn on my arms.

The only picture I took at my work bbq was of the supermoon.  It looked really cool!

Had a great day with some thunderstorms!  Now I am ready for bed!

Cross County Race

This morning Dylan signed up for the 5th grade one mile cross country run.
