Happy National Dog Day

Happy National Dog Day! I had no idea there was such a thing but why not celebrate it.  I made homemade peanut butter dog bones.

We even shared with some of our dog friends.

We bought Mason a new toy for the special occasion. 

He loves it!  He is actually running all around the house with it right now.

A Fun Weekend with Mom and Dad

I had a fun weekend with my parents this weekend. We went shopping (which normally I HATE) and I actually found some new clothes. I am really excited about my new Pitt State sweatshirt so come on cool weather.

I found these in the baking section and since they said the word "new" on them I had to buy them. I made my homemade brownies and put the mint filled morsels in them.

I work four days this week and then a 5 day weekend. YAY!!

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my mom's birthday and I am so excited we got to celebrate it with her.  I had glazed brown butter blondies and a salted caramel macchiato martini waiting for her when they arrived.  I couldn't find any other candles so we pretended she was 41 today:) (that would make me 20)

An Entertaining Evening

Since Michael is gone, my friend Alysha came over tonight and we had pizza and wedding cake martinis.

She brought Joe's puppy with her and Mason did NOT like him.  They growled and barked at each other the whole night.

We also had a fun game of charades.

There is never a dull moment when Alysha and Dylan get together!!

Best Son Ever

Dylan has been a normal teenage boy and he has been driving me crazy lately. You know the time a teenage boy thinks his mother knows nothing!!

Well, Dylan stopped at Walgreens on the way home from school and when he got home he ran upstairs. I asked him what he was doing and he brought down a shoe box and handed it to me.  I opened it up and saw three boxes of Junior Mints and a stuffed penguin and I started to cry.  He apologized for being a mean son to me and I couldn't say anything because I was still crying.  I was totally caught off guard.

I love him more than he will ever know. (even when he is being a pain) I don't know how I got so lucky!!

A Much Needed "No Plans" Weekend

WOW! We actually had a weekend with nothing on the calendar. I don't remember the last time that happened!

Cass had to work all day Saturday with a two hour lunch break so we went to City Fish and More in Kansas City, Ks.  It is one of the best places to get fried catfish in the city.

This morning Cass and I went to the Kolache Factory and got the family breakfast.  I am so excited that we have one just a few minutes away. I will be taking mom and dad there next weekend.

Dylan is going out for Cross Country this year so we had to go shopping for some running shoes.

I made caramel stuffed rice krispie treats today and my sister would absolutely love them.

It was a perfect evening to eat out on the deck.  We had grilled chicken, grilled cabbage and now enjoying some tropical blue sangria.

That was definitely a much needed "no plans" weekend!

Phoenix Jazz Club

Tonight we went to the Phoenix Jazz Club with our friends Sheila and Pete. My teachers gave me a groupon as a gift so we finally got to use it tonight.

The food and music were really good!

I love spending time with my dear friend Sheila!!

I am so glad we got to try a new place.  Thanks teachers!!

First Day of School..My Senior and Eighth Grader

Today was the first day of school. Cass is a senior and Dylan is an eighth grader.

I took Cass to Starbucks before school.

A Very Nice Birthday

My day started off with a free Starbucks coffee.

Then a free Lennys sub for lunch!

For dessert, I made homemade brownies with homemade funfetti frosting. (my new favorite recipe)

My family bought me tickets to the Blue Man Group at Starlight in September.

We had a delicious birthday dinner at Sombero's Mexican Cantina.  It was our first time there and I will definitely be going back!!

Apparently, I did nothing but eat and drink today:)
